Sirens Get On The Board With Big Win
Senghenydd Sirens got their first league points of the season last weekend with a convincing 51-17 home win over Burry Port. Imogen Shide, Catrin Williams and Rhian Bowden all crossed for two tries whilst there was also good scores for Ollie Morgan, Kara Mitchell and Kacey Morkot. Stacey Ayking added three conversions.
The Sirens will be hoping to back that performance up this weekend when they head to Cymry Caerdydd.
In the Championship, Raylee Caviell crossed twice for Treorchy in their excellent 30-15 win over Pembroke at the Oval. Maisey Fry, Kirsty Elliott, Charlotte Gouch and Stacey Ricketts also crossed the whitewash.
Ynysybwl were also in fine form in the Champ as they recorded a 41-12 home win over Lampeter. Samantha Galea went over the line twice for the Bwl with Oliva Jones, Tereza Moses, Rhoswen James and Erin Wrighton also scoring to earn the home team a bonus point. Gemma Thomas added two conversions and Sophie Norman also got on the scoreboard with a two pointer.
There was no such luck though for Gwernyfed as they were beaten 50-0 by early season pace setters Haverfordwest in West Wales. They will be hoping to bonce back this Sunday though with a home all Mid District affair with Ynysybwl.
There is also an all District affair this weekend at Y Parc, where Abercynon entertain Treorchy.
In East Central, Llantwit Fardre battled hard at Porthcawl but came out on the wrong side of a 47-15 score line. Jenna George, Libby Edwards and Natalia Barnes all got tries but it wasn't enough to take any points home.
Llantwit are back in action this weekend at home to Taffs Well, whilst Penygraig return to East Central action with a home game against Whitchurch.

The 2026/27 women’s rugby season got underway last weekend, with Mid District clubs competing across the Premiership, Championship and East Central divisions.
It was a challenging opening afternoon for a couple of our newly-promoted sides, while Llantwit Fardre made an impressive start in a Mid District derby at Penygraig.
Senghenydd begin Premiership campaign
Senghenydd started life in the Premiership following last season’s hugely successful campaign, but they were given an immediate indication of the standard required in the top flight.
The Sirens welcomed an excellent Pontyclun side and, despite the home team’s efforts, the visitors proved too strong on the day as they recorded a 31-0 victory.
It was nevertheless another significant occasion for Senghenydd, who have made tremendous progress in recent seasons and will now look to build on the experience as their first Premiership campaign develops.
Their next challenge comes this weekend when they travel to Seven Sisters.
Tough Championship opener for Abercynon
Abercynon also stepped up a level this season following their promotion to the Championship and faced a difficult opening assignment with the long trip west to Haverfordwest.
The hosts produced a strong performance to run out 55-0 winners, leaving Abercynon looking to respond when they return home this weekend.
There will be guaranteed Mid District interest in the Championship on Sunday with Abercynon hosting Ynysybwl in the first district derby of the new Championship campaign.
Meanwhile, Treorchy begin their league season with a trip to West Swansea Hawks.
Treorchy were without a fixture on the opening weekend and will be eager to get their campaign underway following their promotion into the Championship.
Llantwit Fardre win opening Mid District derby
There was an all-Mid District contest in East Central as Penygraig welcomed Llantwit Fardre.
It was the visitors who took the honours, with Llantwit Fardre producing an impressive opening-day performance to record a 41-10 victory.
Penygraig have an immediate opportunity to respond this weekend when they are back on home soil to face Porthcawl.
