Last Saturday's Worthington Game of the Week took us to Mid- Wales where Tref y Clawdd welcomed Glyncoch.
A Lloyd Parkes hat-trick of tries plus good scores from Josh Deakins, Evan Lee, Aaron Layton and George Hodnett plus five Layton conversions gave the home side a 45-12 win.

Gilfach Goch 14 Tonyrefail 7
The bad weather didn't stop a large crowd gathering at the Welfare ground on Saturday as these near neighbours went all out to claim the local bragging rights.
Both teams put in committed performances in what was as expected a physical affair.
The home team got tries through Thomas Clayton and Dylan John with Josh Williams kicking both conversions.
Tonyrefail really threw everything at their hosts particularly in the latter stages and were rewarded with a try from Richard Pope which was converted by Ioan Matthew.
But it was Gilfach who held firm in the rain to take the spoils

Our first Worthington Mid District Rugby Union game of the week for the 2026/27 season saw us travel to Bargoed for their Community Premiership tie with Ystrad Rhondda.
The sun was shining on Bargoed Park as both teams looked excited to get their new season underway.
There was early intent from both but it was Bargoed who took the early initiative with new signing Tom Weekley crossing for two early tries. Outside half Josh Prosser kicked both conversions.
The score was 14-0 at the interval and it was the home team who came out firing again in the second period with further tries scored by Rhys Stephens, Cameron Regan and Dylan Williams insuring they gained a try scoring bonus point. Prosser slotted a further two conversions.
Ystrad Rhondda who showed glimpses of some real intent throughout were rewarded with a late converted score but it was the home team who took the spoils and the early league and Mid District Cup points.
New Season Begins –
Welcome to 2026/27 Mid District Rugby
The wait is almost over.
After a summer of preparation, pre-season training and friendly fixtures, clubs across the Mid District are preparing to begin another exciting season of community rugby.
From Premiership rugby through the WRU National League divisions, Athletic and Second XV rugby, Youth, Women’s rugby and the junior game, another busy campaign lies ahead for clubs throughout the District.
Celebrating Our Clubs
The Mid District Rugby Union is proud to represent clubs that sit at the very heart of their communities.
Every Saturday, hundreds of players will pull on their club colours, supported by coaches, volunteers, committee members, medical teams, supporters and families who give countless hours to keep community rugby thriving.
Throughout the 2026/27 season, this website will aim to celebrate those people as well as the action on the field.
We want to tell the stories of Mid District rugby – from important victories and individual achievements to the volunteers and characters who make our clubs special.
A Season Across the Divisions
Mid District clubs will once again compete across a wide range of levels within Welsh rugby during 2026/27.
At the top end of the community game, Bargoed, Beddau, Merthyr, Pontypridd and Ystrad Rhondda will fly the Mid District flag in the WRU Admiral Community Premiership.
There will also be strong Mid District representation throughout the Championship and National League divisions, with local rivalries renewed and plenty of fascinating contests ahead.
The District will continue to follow the fortunes of all our clubs throughout the campaign.
More Than First XV Rugby
One of the major aims of the season will be to shine a light on rugby throughout our clubs.
That means recognising Athletic and Second XV rugby, Youth rugby, the Women’s game and the work taking place within Mini and Junior sections.
The development of players remains hugely important to the future of Welsh rugby, and there are countless coaches and volunteers working every week to provide opportunities for the next generation.
Their contribution deserves recognition.
